A bit too much

A 44 year old man complains of fever, abdominal distention, anorexia and nausea for 4 days. He consumes half a bottle of whiskey every day, with his last drink being yesterday and demonstrates features of alcohol dependance. There is no history of blood transfusions, recreational drug use or unsafe sexual contact. His medical history is unremarkable. Chest X-Rays and Urinalysis are normal.
